Mrs. Naomi Ruth Chastain, age 82, of New Albany, formerly of Salem, passed away Sunday, April 28 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Mrs. Chastain was born July 21, 1936 in French Lick, Indiana the daughter of James H. Burton Sr. and Ophia Teaford Burton. She was a member of Westview Christian Church and also attended Northside Christian Church in New Albany. She was also a member of Highland Homemaker’s Club. She was retired from the Washington County ASCS office.
On July 22, 1957, she married Parvin Chastain and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2017. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Floyd Burton, two sisters: Bessie Parker and Margo Wolfe and her parents.
She is survived by one son: Roger Chastain of Georgetown, two daughters: Pam Strong Frymire (Rich Frymire) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and Debbie Nale-Wassom (Reg Wassom) of Georgetown, two brothers: James H. Burton Jr. of Battle Creek, Michigan and Walter Burton of Indianapolis, four grandchildren: Morgan Strong (Becky) of Charlestown, Evan Strong (Elise) of New Albany, Taylor Nale of New Albany, and Cassie Nale of Georgetown, five step-grandchildren: Chloe Wassom of New Albany, Jacob Wassom of Louisville, Ike Wassom (Molly) of Louisville, Sylvia Wassom of New Albany, and Daniel Frymire of Fort Bragg, and three great-grandchildren: Harper, Hudson and Madeline Strong.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday from 9AM-time of service.
