Benny R. Howard

Benny R. Howard, age 72 of Salem, passed away October 8, 2025 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.

Mr. Howard was born April 21, 1953 in Harlan County, KY, the son of John N. Howard and Lydia Clem Howard. Mr. Howard was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, and was a big UK and Cincinatti Bengals fan.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry Howard. He is survived by his son, Jason Benn Howard of Salem, daughters, Holly Jill Howard of Salem, Heidi Beth Davidson (Andy) of Paoli, five brothers: Hubert Howard, Ewell Howard, Hulen Howard, Neil Howard, Mark Howard and two sisters, Barbara and Joan. Mr. Howard is also survived by his five grandsons, Jacob Howard, Wyatt Chastain, Jadon Powers, Talon Powers, Lucion Powers and his granddaughter, Eden Davidson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Gary Howard, Ernie Howard, Johnny Howard, Roger Howard and Daisy Sample.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00a.m at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday morning from 10:00a.m until the time of service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Winslow Cemetery.
