Berne Newsome, age 84 of Salem, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Salem Crossing.

Mr. Newsome was born July 17, 1941 in Neon, Kentucky, the son of John Q. Newsome and Delphia Mae Barnes Newsome Quillen. He was a member of the Church of God Prophesy, Living Waters Ministries. He was a retired Lumber Stacker at Smiths Cabinets.

Mr. Newsome is survived by his sons: Alan Newsome of Vallonia, David Newsome of Seymour, Michael Newsome (Donna) of Salem, Doug Newsome of Salem and Jason Newsome (Melissa) of Salem, his daughter, Miracle Newsome of Salem, his grandchildren: Brooklyn Holland, Passion Lewellyn (Donald) Ethan, Travis and Tyler Newsome, Anthony and Austin Burns, Valarie Burns, Ziola Johnson, Tristan and James Newsome and his great grandchildren: Oliver, Daisy, Lilly, and Jasmine. Mr. Newsome is also survived by his brother, Harvey C. Mead and his sisters, Betty Collier of Salem and Nyoka Brough of Salem.

Mr. Newsome is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Carlos Newsome and Henry Newsome.

A private service will be held for Mr. Newsome.
