Clara Marie (Shanks) Burns

Mrs. Clara Marie Burns age 85 of Salem passed away Thursday, February 13 at 9:00AM in Lebanon, Indiana.

Mrs. Burns was born June 5, 1928 in Washington County, Indiana the daughter of Noble and Ethel Fern Adams Shanks.  She was a retired employee of Federal Land Bank.  She had also worked for Shanks Abstract, State Bank of Salem and Jackson County Bank.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Salem, Rebekah Lodge and Daughters of the American Revolution Christopher Harrison Chapter.  She was a member of Washington County Historical Society where she served as Treasurer, President and board of directors.  She was also a member of the board of directors for the John Hay Foundation.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Edmond Burns and her parents.  She is survived by her son:  Perre Edmon Burns of Salem, grandson:  Perre Edmon Burns II (Tracy) of Lebanon, Indiana and great-grandsons:  Grant Noble Burns and Jacob Ray Burns both of Lebanon.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8PM and Monday from 9AM-time of service.   Rebekah services will be held Sunday at 7:00PM at the funeral home.
