Dessie Marie Smith, age 84 of Salem, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Meadowview Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Smith was born April 19, 1942 in Corbin, Kentucky, the daughter of Jess and Nellie Eaton McVay. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Robert Smith (Sue) of Salem and Donnie Smith (Marla) of Salem, her daughters, Vickie Schultz (David) of Salem and Barbara Cupp (Kenny) of Salem. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Roberts (Dave) of Salem, 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. 

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 50 years, Donald C. Smith. She is also preceded by her two grandsons, Nathan Schultz and Steven Cupp, her brothers, Lewis McVay, Charles McVay, Ronnie McVay, Ledford McVay, Phillip McVay and DL McVay and her sisters, June Fishburn and Elizabeth McNeeley.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 2:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10:00A.M until the time of service. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Crown Hill Cemetery.
