Ellen Mahuron, age 82 of Salem, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 in her home.

Mrs. Mahuron was born March 2, 1944 in Pekin, Indiana the daughter of Grant Markland and Harriet Gray Markland. She was a member of the Crossroads Church of Christ. Mrs. Mahuron was a Lab Tech at Washington County Memorial Hospital for 35 years. She was a horticulturist, master gardener and loved raising her animals. She also loved birds and cats.

Mrs. Mahuron is survived by her sons, Winn Mahuron of Salem, James Mahuron (Glenda) of Campbellsburg, and Nathan Mahuron (Venus) of Campbellsburg, her daughter, Laura Layden (Shawn) of Holbrook, Arizona, her grandchildren, Kathleen and Caleb Layden, Grant, John, and Jacob Mahuron, 9 great grandchildren and her sister, Carolyn Naugle (Dale) of Sebring, Florida.

Mrs. Mahuron is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Mahuron, who passed May 31, 2025, her granddaughter Mary Ellen Mahuron, and her parents.

Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00A.M until the time of service. Burial will take place immediately following services at Crown Hill Cemetery.
