Florence (Johnson) McKnight

Florence Johnson McKnight, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Salem Crossings in Salem, Indiana.  Florence was born December 21, 1946, in Hyden, Kentucky. She was one of five daughters of Earl and Gladys Johnson.

Florence was a member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion Post 41 auxiliary group and Salem Senior Citizens.   Florence worked at Smith Child Craft in Salem for over 36 years before retiring. She enjoyed being with her family and friends; playing bingo; going on vacation trips and staying in vacation condos working her beloved puzzle books. Her biggest joy was being with her four grandsons and great granddaughter.

Florence was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys; her father, Earl;  her sisters, Dorothy and Grace; her brother, Bobby; and two special aunts, Hazel and Sill.

On April 16, 1980 Florence married Jack McKnight of Salem, IN who survives; she is also survived by

her son, Michael Wayne Johnson and Mychael Willon of Williamsburg, VA; her daughter, Paula Jo McKnight and Kerry Drake of Louisville, KY; her four grandchildren: Isaiah Renfro of Salem, IN; Elijah Boling of Salem, IN; Charles Willon of Williamsburg, VA; and Mychael Willon of Williamsburg, VA; a great granddaughter, Hadley Grace Boling of Salem, IN; sisters, Drucilla Campbell of Walton, KY and Mary Elizabeth Lunceford and Brian Brandenburg of Beattyville, KY; a brother, Earl Wayne Johnson and Carolyn Johnson of Hyden, KY; also her best friend, Sara House of Salem, IN as well as many, loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will bet Crown Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.  Pallbearers: Darin Brewer, Ian Campbell, Isaiah Renfro, Elijah Boling, Charles Willon, Brian Brandenburg, Thomas Turner, Zackary Turner, and Michael Johnson. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8PM and Friday from 11AM until time of service.
