Gale Newton “Newt” Bush, age 89, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Meadowview Health and Rehab Center.
Newt was born August 3, 1934 in Pekin, Indiana. The son of Oliver and Jessie Lovell Bush. Newt was a former member of the Pekin Lions Club, Pekin Saddle Club, Dairymen Incorporated, and Salem Band Parents. He was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ. Newt was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Services after 42 years of service. He loved driving the school bus for both Salem and East Washington Schools. He also farmed and was a real estate agent. Newt loved his family, holiday gatherings which was a constant tradition, and watching the flora and the fauna.
Newt is survived by his wife of 40 years, Angela Owens Bush. They were married on June 4, 1983. He is also survived by his son: Benie Bush (Lisa) of Salem, a step son: Steve Erwin (Joni) of Salem, three daughters: Glenda Storey (Richard) of New Salisbury, Jane Remily (Richard) of Seale, Alabama, Marcie Lear (Don) of Corydon, a step daughter Rebel McFetridge (Mike) of Bealton, Virginia. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Justin Bush (Rachel) of Salem, Jesse Bush of Salem, Jessica Huett (Brett) of Corydon, Travis Robinson (Cara) of Lanesville, Dylan Lawson of Louisville and Olivia Lawson of Louisville and step grandchildren: Leslie Dover of Louisville, Gunner Erwin of Nashville, Tennessee, Andrea Erwin of Louisville, Emily McFetridge of Bealton, Virginia and Ryan McFetridge of Bealton, Virginia. Also, his great grandchildren: Stetson and Beckham Bush, Haley, Isabella and Cole Huett, Callen and Riggs Robinson and his step great grandchildren: Houston and Wrenley Dover and Marilyn Jane Erwin.
Newt is preceded in death by his parents, his stepson Robin Erwin, four brothers: Bob Bush, Bernard Bush, Dave Bush and John Bush. He is also preceded by his sisters: Helen Crockett, Nancy Collins and Polly McKinley.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00A.M., at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4:00P.M.-8:00P.M and Saturday morning from 9:00 to time of service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Martinsburg Cemetery.
