Gordon L Knight

Mr. Gordon L. Knight age 83 of Salem passed away Thursday, January 5 at his home.
Mr. Knight was born August 8, 1933 in Campbellsburg, Indiana the son of Wincel and Rose Cole Knight. He was a self- employed water hauler and retired as a volunteer fire fighter from Salem Fire Department after 23 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of Washington County Historical Society. He was also a charter member of the Eagles and served on the Veteran Memorial Planning Committee.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Julia Collins Knight on December 21, 2015. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Calvin and Clifford Knight, two sisters: Linda Rivers and Hazel Gorman and his parents.
Gordon is survived by a son: Dennis Knight (Joyce) of Salem, four daughters: Kathryn Wade of Salem, Diana Campbell (Tim) of Salem, Karen Knight of Salem and Donna Geltmaker of Pekin, a sister: Edith A. Pennington of Salem, seven grandchildren: Jessica and Justin Wade, Bradley and Brandon Callahan, A.J. Knight, Zac and Zeb Campbell, and six great- grandchildren: Zane Campbell, Addison and Avery Knight, Willow Newby-Wade, Camdyn Callahan and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military and firefighter honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 9AM-time of service at the funeral home.
