Harold Bud Holmes

Mr. Harold F. "Bud" Holmes age 77 of Salem passed away Sunday, July 21 at 7:10AM at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.

Mr. Holmes was born August 31, 1935 in Meeker County, Minnesota the son of Gerald and Nellie Heveron Holmes.  He was retired owner/operator for Jacobson Truck Lines.  He was a Korean War Army veteran and served with the 101st Airborne stationed in Japan.  He was a member of Old Time Fiddlers Association and Hudson Essex-Terraplane Club Inc.

He is survived by his wife:   Connie Freed Holmes of Salem.  They were married August 27, 1960.  He is also survived by a son:  Jeffrey W. Holmes of Sellersburg, a brother:  Kenneth Holmes of Minneapolis, two sisters:  Vera Schmidt of St. Cloud and Vivian Johnson of Minneapolis, and a grandson:  Nicholas A. Holmes.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Saltillo Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 9AM-time of service.
