Jesse Lee Blanton, age 79 of Salem, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025 at St. Vincent Salem Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Blanton was born January 16, 1946 in Louisville, KY the son of William E. Blanton and Ruth Evelyn Moore Blanton. He was a retired boilermaker and welder from Falls City Boiler in New Albany. Mr. Blanton loved spending time with his family, history, deer hunting with his son, fishing camping, boating and hunting Indian artifacts. He was a great outdoorsman and a loving husband and father. He was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Blanton is survived by his wife, Barbara, who he married August 21, 1965. He is also survived by his son, William Lee Blanton (Andrea) of Mitchell, his daughters, Michelle Nice (Neal) of Salem, Stacey Ann Blanton of Salem,his brother, Charles Blanton of Hanover, sisters Elizabeth Amy of New Albany, Mary Day of New Albany, Carol Faulkenburg of New Albany, Margaret Wilder of Seymour, his grandchildren: Brian Houston, Chris Houston, Kaity Cole, Jake Sweeney, Lane Nice, Lauren Blanton, Cody Nice and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Aria and Oliver.
Mr. Blanton is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Blanton and his sisters, Delores Slate and Rosemary Byrd.
Services will be held for Mr. Blanton on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 1:00p.m at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6:00p.m-8:00p.m and Friday morning from 11:00a.m until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Horners Chapel Cemetery.
