Obituary

Larry Scott Rutherford, age 76, of Pekin, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Norton Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1950, to Robert and Mary Rutherford.

Larry was truly a jack of all trades and a man who could fix, build, or rebuild just about anything he set his mind to. He especially enjoyed rebuilding tractors and cars and took great pride in bringing old machinery back to life. His love for farming and tractors led him to become involved with the West Washington Young Farmers Association and the Tri-County Tractor Association. Larry was also a member of Lost River Baptist Church. Whether he was working on a tractor, rebuilding a car, or lending his skills to a project, Larry enjoyed working with his hands and sharing his knowledge with those around him.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 Years, Deborah Napier Rutherford; two sisters, Karen Robbins (Jerry) and Jarita Spaulding (Larry); four children, Pamela Miles (Jimmy), Rebecca Churchman (John), David Rutherford, and Jennifer Zelish; seven grandchildren, Shelby Ray (Brent), Jesse Miles, Devin Doss (Dakota), Skylar Bolin (Corey), Jillian Stephan, Ty Stephan, and Sarah York; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter and Avalynn Ray, Josie, Adyson and Weston Miles and Bohdi Bowlin.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Rutherford and one brother, Lynn R. Rutherford.

A memorial service for Larry will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
