Mrs. Lois Marie Miller, age 92, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, November 13 at Baptist Health Floyd.
Mrs Miller was born February 8, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Louis William Vassie and Elsie Katherine Dicken Vassie Cummings. She was a retired statistical clerk for the US Department of Agriculture, after over thirty years of service. Lois was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she served on several committees. She was also a member of the Louisville Dulcimer Society. She was a longtime season ticket holder in the crunch zone for U of L football. Lois enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, camping and making her world famous peanut brittle, She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother, Lois and Eugene were member of four square dancing clubs: Beulah Twirlers, Arky Stars, The In's and Out's and The Rocketeers.
On May 15, 1954, Lois married Eugene Miller and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her step-father: Michael Cummings, two sisters: Carole Cummings-Smith and Mickey Cummings-Pack, and two brothers: Louis William Vassie Jr. and Dale F. Vassie.
She is survived by her children: Michael Miller (Barbara) of Louisville, Steven Miller (Mary) of Floyds Knobs, Robert Miller (Beth) of Fredericksburg, Brenda Hester (Cliff) of Campbellsburg, and Brian Miller of Fredericksburg, two sisters: Marita Cummings Allendorf of Louisville and Patricia Cummings Gee of Aurora, Colorado, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9-10:30AM at Weathers Funeral Home.
