Margaret "Kathleen" Oldson, age 92, formerly of the South Boston area of Washington County, passed away July 2, 2022, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by loving family.
Kathleen was born on January 24, 1930 in Campbellsburg, Indiana to Ernest G. and Leo I. Chastain. She married the love of her life, Lloyd M. Oldson, on October 2, 1949 and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.
She graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1947. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm outside the South Boston community and in 1963 moved to Orlando, Florida. She was a homemaker, bookkeeper, accountant and the most beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was very active in her church, where she was known for her famous coconut cream pies and carrot cakes!
After his retirement, Kathleen and Lloyd enjoyed travelling all over the USA. They drove their converted mini-van to all the National Parks, historic sites and museums they could, visiting with family members along the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents, Ernest and Leo Chastain; Lloyd’s parents, C. F. and Martha Oldson; her brother, Donald Chastain and her grandson, Matthew Netzer.
Kathleen is survived by her two children, Barbara (Terry) McDaniel of Texas and Robert (Debbie) Oldson of Florida; one brother, Richard Chastain and sister, Gloria (Jerry) Rosenbaum, both of Indiana; sister-in-law, Jean Chastain of Illinois; 5 grandchildren and spouses and 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in both Orlando, FL and Salem, IN. A graveside service will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, July 20th at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19th from 4-6PM at Weathers Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the First Christian Church of Winter Park, 1140 S. Lakemont Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792 in memory of Kathleen Oldson; or the charity of your choice.
