Merle Johnson

Mr. Merle Johnson age 81 of Orleans passed away Sunday, July 30 at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.
Mr. Johnson was born October 7, 1935 in Prescott, Arizona the son of Lyle Donovan Johnson and Beulah Esther Frost Johnson Charley. He was a retired employee of Prescott, Arizona schools. He was a Baptist by faith and a Korean War Navy veteran and member of American Legion. He enjoyed playing music, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Merle is survived by his wife: Loretta Craig Johnson. They were married May 1, 1971. He also survived by a son: Russell “Buck” Sprouse of Booneville, Kentucky, five daughters: Loyda Larriana Johnson of Carrollton, Kentucky, Loretta Carol Konz of Louisville, Katherine Ellen Sullivan of Hanover, Sara Jean Sprouse of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Lillian Marie Davis of Orleans, a brother: Lyle Donovan Johnson of Prescott, Arizona, three sisters: Maebell Charley of Lexington, Indiana, Cheryl Pulliam of Salem and Carol Sloan of Depauw, 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Glenda Kay Allen, a brother: Charles Donovan, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 5:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home with military honors to follow. Visitation will be from 2PM-time of service. A dinner will follow the services at Little Mission Church, 5226 S. County Road 640 East Hardinsburg, IN 47125.
