Mildred Aileen McNew

Mildred Aileen McNew, age 82 of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Vincent Salem Hospital.

Mrs. McNew was born September 15, 1943, in New Albany Indiana, the daughter of George and Mildred Matthews Coomer. She was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church. Mildred retired from Speedflex in Salem. She loved to travel and being with her family.

Mrs. McNew is survived by her sons: Phillip Howell (Amy) of Clarksville, Anthony McNew of Salem, Ronnie McNew (Denise) of Pekin, Lonnie McNew (Lori) of Pekin and Danny McNew of Paris, Kentucky, daughters: Julie Cheatham (Butch) of Pekin and Terri Denning of Pekin. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Coomer of New Albany and her sisters, Linda LaDuke of New Albany and Margie Slusser of Salem. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by her fur baby, Mollie Mae McNew.

Mrs. McNew is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McNew, who passed on October 28, 1996. She is also preceded by her parents, and her brother, Charles Coomer.

Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 4-8 and Friday morning from 11a.m until the time of service. Burial will follow immediately after the services at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
