N Alice (Gater) Voyles

Mrs. N. Alice Gater Spaulding Voyles, passed peacefully from this life at the age of 92, on November 17, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Alice, as she was known, was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Indiana, born March 3, 1926.  She was one of nine children born to Earles and Fay Lawson Gater.

After retirement, Alice enjoyed her time at home quilting and crocheting and being visited by family and grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband, Carl Ray “Buck” Voyles who she married on June 26, 1965, and who preceded her in death on February 16, 2014.

She is survived by ten children:  Aleeta Sparkman (Ray) of Salem, William E. Spaulding (Sharon) of North Vernon, Fay Dodds of Utah, Jane Balentine (Ernie) of Pekin, Kathy Setser (Michael) of Salem, Anna Roney of Florida, Sue Hamilton of Salem, Larry Spaulding (Jarita) of Salem, Patty Joliffe (James) of Texas, and Jennifer Humphrey (Mark) of Salem, two sisters:  Carolyn Beil of Fort Knox, Kentucky and Ann Neel of Pekin.  She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was also  preceded in death by five brothers:  Stan, Forest, Merrill, Rollin, and Conroy Gater, one sister:  Loetta Parker, four grandchildren:  Heather Roney, Angela, Ryan and Jennifer Dodds, one great-grandchild:  Havannah Balentine, three son-in-laws:  Bill Dodds, Phillip Hamilton and Larry Roney and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 9AM-time of service.
