Paul Benton Kirby, age 77, of Salem, passed away Friday, December 26 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Kirby was born November 1, 1948, in Vincennes, Indiana the son of Robert H. and Virginia Catherine Gilstrap Kirby. He was a retired truck driver for Stone Belt Freight Lines. He was a Vietnam War Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW. Paul is survived by his children: Paul Kirby Jr. of Salem, Joni Magner (Matthew) of Salem, and nephew that was like a son: James (P-Nut) Kirby (Julie) of Salem, seven grandchildren: Shelby Bledsoe (Dustin), Kaegan Magner (Kailee), Gracie Magner (Gunnar Lawson), Emily Parrett (Wade), Katelynn Land (Tyler), Courtney Kirby and Ashley Kirby, and six great-grandchildren: Karsyn Gardner, Braxton Magner, Madilyn Lanham, Ellen Magner, Casen Parrett, and Briar Land. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Gene, Frank, Jim, Ralph, and Mike Kirby, and two sisters: Vera Gilchrist and Janet Gibbons. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2 at 10:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 1 from 3-6PM and Friday, January 2 from 9AM-time of service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
