Robert William Lengel

Mr. Robert William Lengel, age 58, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, July 12 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Missouri.  Robert was born September 15, 1963, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of Catherine Merko Lengel and Howard Lengel.  He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in New Albany.  He was a professional transportation engineer for 33 years.  Robert served in the Navy, Army, Air Force and Army and Air Force National Guards.  He enjoyed being with his family and loved his grandchildren.  He loved farming and considered himself a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Mr. Lengel is survived by his wife, Rachel Noll Lengel.  They were married June 26, 1986.  He is also survived by two sons:  Joshua Lengel (Danielle) of Salem, and Benjamin Lengel (Kendra) of Underwood, two daughters:  Katie Pesce (Timothy) of Lexington, Indiana and Abigail Lee (Zachary) of Brownstown, his father and step-mother:  Howard and Shirley Lengel of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania,  three brothers:  Donald Lengel (Brenda) of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, John Lengel of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, and Andrew (Tammy) of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, two sisters:  Mary Matuella (Joseph) of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Thomas (Casey) of Schuykill Haven, Pennsylvania, and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother:  Catherine Lengel, a son:  Jacob Lengel, and a sister-in-law:  Shawn Lengel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Kansas Church of Christ.  Burial will follow in Kansas Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Friday from 6-9PM and Saturday from 10-11AM at Weathers Funeral Home.
