Robert "Bob" L Nice

Mr. Robert “Bob” L. Nice, age 84, of Salem, passed away Saturday, November 3 at his home.

Mr. Nice was born December 12, 1933 in Washington County, Indiana the son of Banks and Anna Pearl Alspaugh Nice.  He was former co-owner of Elaine’s Restaurant and a Farmer.  He served in the US Army at West Point, New York.

Robert loved spending time with his family, horseback riding, road trips, farming, IU Hoosier’s basketball, geography, and history.

Mr. Nice is survived by his wife of 62 years:    Elaine Davidson Nice.  They were married June 10, 1956 in West Haverstraw, New York.

He is also survived by five children:  Barb Davis (Steve), Jeri Lynne Snelling (Bobby), Rita Lyles (Bryant), Neal Nice (Michelle), and Heather McNeely (Billy) all of Salem, two brothers:  Junior Nice and James Nice both of Salem, a sister:  Nona Cole of Salem, ten grandchildren:  Robbie Lyles (Jenny Lockard), Corey Baker (Adrienne Combs), Justin Davis (Amanda), Ashleigh Alexander (Bronson), Brandon Davis (Lindsey), Jared Davis (Janice), Brianna Misamore, Lane Nice, Madison Misamore, and Cody Nice, 5 step-grandchildren:  Bailee McNeely, Jackson McNeely, Bryson McNeely, Jenah McNeely, and Zackary Lockard, and 10 great-grandchildren:  Jordan Baker, Natalie Baker, Mazie Lyles, Raiden Lyles, Braxton Davis, Alyssa Davis, Amelia Davis, Isabelle Davis, Brenleigh Alexander and Rogan Davis.

He was preceded in death by four brothers:  Dale Nice, Stanley Nice, Raymond Nice and Richard Nice, six sisters:  Ruby Humphrey, Betty Strange, Anna Mae Zink, Hazel Voyles, Pat Floyd and Helen Branaman, and his parents:  Banks and Anna Nice.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Kansas Cemetery with military honors.   Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 9AM-time of services.
