Shirley M. Powell age 79 of Salem passed away Monday at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Mrs. Powell was born October 18, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Richard W. and Elizabeth Coder Hile. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband: Eugene Powell. They were married February 4, 1950. She is also survived by two sons: Terry Powell of Sellersburg, Indiana and David Powell of Atlanta, Georgia, five daughters: Deborah Cooley of Pekin, Linda Schamel, Karen Morgan and Janet O'Keefe all of Salem and Michele Steggeman of New Albany, Indiana, a sister: Cheryl Scharf of North Carolina, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Gilbert Hile, a sister: June Carden and her parents.
