Sonja C. (Grubbs) Kemp

Mrs. Sonja C. Grubbs Kemp age 77 of Salem passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5 at Meadowview Health Care in Salem.

Mrs. Kemp was born July 31, 1940 in Bedford, Indiana the daughter of Richard and Betty West Grubbs.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Sonja was preceded in death by her husband:  Donald “Squirrelly” L. Kemp, on September 24, 2004, they were married October 5, 1968. She was also preceded by two brothers:  Lyle West and Enoch Grubbs, three sisters:  Marie Dutchanoy, Ramona Brown, and Louise Lee, a grandson:  Jason Grubbs, two great-grandchildren: Ryan and Dawson Atchison, and her parents.

She is survived by two sons:  Ray Gearlds (Sharon) of Elizabeth, Indiana and Eddy Grubbs (Sheila) of Orleans, two daughters:  Lisa Rogers Guthrie of Salem and Crystal Lee (Robbie) of Salem, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Bedford.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 9AM-time of service.
