Violetta Jean Humprey

Violetta Jean “Jeanie” Humphrey, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 85 at her home in Fruitland Park, FL. 

Jeanie was a woman of God, a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a supportive sister and a trusted friend. Born on November 5, 1940, Jeanie was the beloved daughter of Violet (Zink) and Clifton Baird of Salem, IN, where she was raised and lived her entire young adult life. Jeanie met the love of her life and married Dean Humphrey on June 8, 1958, moving to Leesburg, FL in 1961. Jeanie and Dean raised 4 children: Sheri Quistad (Mike), Linda Humphrey, Brent Humphrey (Corey) and Jonathan Humphrey (Lori) and were blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with another baby girl on the way. Jeanie is predeceased by her parents, Cliff and Violet Baird and sister, Carol Wichman and is survived by brothers Ernest Baird (Carolyn) of Salem, IN and Kenneth Baird (Nancy) of Muskogee, OK. 

Jeanie lived her life by example through her grace, kindness, selflessness and faith. She was a founding member of Northside Christian Church where she was integral in the teaching of the word of God, the outreach to those in need and worship through song. Jeanie’s passion in life, other than family and food, was music whereby she embraced the role of choir director for more than 40 years.

 Jeanie’s legacy will live on through her adoring family and those whose lives she touched. Our loss is heaven’s gain! 

A visitation and funeral service to celebrate Jeanie’s life and memory will be held in Florida at Heritage Community Church on Sunday, February 1, 2026, beginning at 4:00 pm. A second visitation and service will then again be held in Indiana at Weathers Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 am with her final resting at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, IN.
