Clara Catherine Pruitt

Mrs. Clara Catherine Pruitt, age 91, of Salem, passed away Friday, December 31 at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.

Mrs. Pruitt was born November 17, 1930, in Lanesville, Indiana the daughter of Joseph Christian and Agnes Smeltz Messmer.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Clara is survived by her husband:  Joseph “Joe” Pruitt.  They were married May 2, 1953.  She is also survived by three sons:  Chris Pruitt (Brenda) of Pekin, Jeff Pruitt (Kelly) of Pekin, and John Pruitt (Sherry) of Garner, North Carolina, three daughters:  Connie Lewellyn (Gary) of Sellersburg, Beth Wells of Louisville, and Janet Casey (Donnie) of Salem, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, and her parents.

Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 5 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8PM and 9AM-10:30AM Wednesday at Weathers Funeral Home.
