Dawson Clair Souder

Brother Dawson Clair Souder departed this life at 4:50 a.m. on Friday, 10 June 2022, at the age of 89 years and 3 days.

Dawsie was born in Washington County, Indiana on 7 June 1933, to Jesse Gilbert and Cleon Iva (McClellan) Souder. He died at Salem Crossing in Salem, Indiana. He had many friends in Harrison County, Missouri. Dawsie married the girl next door, Marjorie Ann Martin, on 26 October 1952.

Dawsie was a Korean War era veteran, serving in the United States Army overseas in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post #203 in Pekin, IN.

Dawsie is survived by one son, Jeffrey Dawson Souder (Kim) of Pekin, Indiana; one daughter, Peggy Luanne Souder of Evansville, Indiana; four grandchildren, JD Souder (Esther) of Salem, Indiana, Micah Souder (Heather) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Courtney Bauer (Erich) of Bruceville, Indiana, and Austin Chastain of Vincennes, Indiana, and eight great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Elisha, Karen, Canaan, & Timothy Souder, and Brayden, Liam, & Aiden Bauer.

He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Allan E. Martin (Jeanine) of Pekin, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife MarjiAnn, and one daughter, Candace Eileen Souder.

Dawsie was a member of the Eastview Church of Christ. He was a lifelong farmer, as well as a founding co-partner in the T&S Auction Service, and a former Washington County Councilman.

For the child of God, death is a beautiful, blessed and precious event. It means going home to God, rest from life’s labors and sorrows, and the life which Dawsie has lived, filled with many good works, remains with us as a continuous memorial to his faith in his Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Washington County Community Foundation, or a charity or church of your choosing.
