Elizabeth Diane Burns

d. February 26, 2022

Salem

Elizabeth Diane Burns, 63 of Mount Carmel, Tennessee, formerly of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee following an extended illness. Born in Kingsport, she was a longtime resident of Salem before moving to Mt Carmel six years ago.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Baldwin; brother, David Baldwin.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 24 years, Ronnie Burns; mother, Dollie Jean Baldwin; brothers, Donnie Baldwin (Lillian) and Steven Baldwin (Donna); cousin, Sherry King; uncle, Kyle Jenkins; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Tina Holbrook.

Elizabeth’s most enduring quality was that she loved her husband. She would defend him above all else and often did so. She also loved music and knew the words to every classic rock song that made the Billboard charts. She was an animal lover and would do nothing to hurt an animal but would get angry when she heard of others doing so.

Even though she lost her vision over thirty years ago, she did not consider that a handicap. Through the years she had hiked, explored caves, fished, made quilts and won many awards doing so, used a sewing machine, kept house, gardened, cooked and become a ham radio operator. She was active in the Washington County Piecemakers Quilt Guild and the Highland Homemakers. After moving to Tennessee, she and her husband enjoyed hiking to mountain tops to make worldwide contacts with their ham radio.

Through her quilting hobby she was invited to be a keynote speaker for many churches, quilt guilds, and other groups throughout several states. She was an excellent speaker and had the ability to arouse deep emotions in her audiences as her talks were both heartbreaking and inspirational.
