Evelene Nicholson (Baker) Wagoner

Mrs. Evelene Nicholson Wagoner, age 85, of Salem, passed away Saturday, March 7 at her home.

Mrs. Wagoner was born January 4, 1935 in Harlan, Kentucky the daughter of Arthur and Annie Howard Baker.  She was a retired bus driver for Salem Community Schools.  She and her husband, Raymond, owned and farmed land in the Delaney Creek Bottoms before moving into town.  Evelene was a faithful member of Monroe Church of Christ.  She was also a member of YMCA Senior Citizens Sewing and Quilting Clubs.

Evelene was preceded in death by her first husband:  Raymond Nicholson, her second husband, Dale Wagoner, a daughter:  Arlene, two brothers:  Coleman Baker and Jimmy Baker, her sister:  Helen Baker, one grandson and her parents.

She is survived by two sons:  Edward Nicholson of Salem and Jimmy Nicholson of Campbellsburg, one daughter:  Darlene Cassel of Marengo, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home with Brother Russell Amburn officiating.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 10AM-1PM.
