Mrs. Joan P. Stingel, age 90, of Salem, passed away Saturday, November 11 at her home.
Mrs. Stingel was born January 3, 1933, in Cadiz, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Celia Hovanick Wright. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church and was a retired Registered Nurse. She was a school nurse for 19 years and also taught Health Occupations, retiring from Salem Community Schools in 1994.
Joan married John Stingel on April 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2020. She is survived by two sons: John E. Stingel (Sharon) of Sellersburg and James W. Stingel (Shelley) of Salem, two daughters: Debbie Catlin of Salem and Dee Dee Zink (Joe) of Salem, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and another great grandchild on the way. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: William Wright.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15 at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11AM-time of service.
