Mary G. Edwards

Mary G. Edwards, age 85, of Salem, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 21 at her home.

She was born on March 8, 1937, in Clay Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of George and Rachel Johnson Colwell. Mary was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Smith Cabinet Manufacturing.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband: Orie D. Edwards, her parents, a brother: James E. Colwell, a grandson: Vernon J. Wilson, a great-grandson: Nathan M. Stidham, and her first husband: Vernon Baker.

She is survived by five daughters: Rachel Haub (Jamie), Angela “Gibby” Long, Lucinda Gray (Donnie) all of Salem, Sandra Hobbs (Paul) of Phenix City, Alabama, and Sheri Alcocer (William) of Wheatfield, Indiana, ten Grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way, two brothers: Demree Colwell (Alene) of Georgetown, Indiana, and Kenneth Colwell (Brenda) of Salem, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11AM at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow in Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-until time of service.
