Philip Earl Nicholson

Philip Earl Nicholson, of Campbellsburg, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 12:25 P.M. at Garden Villa, in Bedford, IN.

He was born on June 25, 1935 in Lawrence Co., IN to John and Elma (Phipps) Nicholson the 9th child out of ten born to them. Philip was a 1955 graduate of Campbellsburg High School.

Philip worked many years as a truck driver for B.F. Goodrich, and then retired from Jeans Extrusions, Salem. He was a member of Sugar Creek Christian Church.

Philip truly loved owning and riding horses his entire life. He was always willing to help family members bale hay, move hay, farm and anything else they may need help with. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was proud of each and every one of them.

Survivors include, two sons: Brian (Beth) Nicholson of Campbellsburg, and Ken (Nancy) Nicholson of Vallonia. Two daughters: Cindy (David) Reed of Homer, GA, and Jill (Eric) Gilmer of Cumming, GA.

Eight grandchildren: Kevin (Tonetta) Nicholson, Krey Nicholson, Kala (Matt) Nicholson-Cline, Samantha (Brandon) Nicholson Crockett, Jessica (Jason) Miller Burrell, Stephanie (Justin) Miller Murphey, Corinne (Ryan) Gilmer, Erin (Jason) Gilmer, and 9 step-grandchildren.

Eight great-grandchildren: Dallas and Skyler Nicholson, Eli and Carson Crockett, Caitlyn, Megan and Benjamin Burrell, and Savannah Murphey, 10 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Philip is also survived by one sister: Phyllis Nicholson Maudlin of Athens, AL, two sisters-in-law: Ellen and Nancy, and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Carolyn Morris Nicholson in 1998, six brothers: Leo, Wayne, Laurel, Maurice, Cecil, and John David, and two sisters: Mildred and Bethel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31 at 1:00 P.M. at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cavetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10AM-until time of service at the funeral home.
