Salem

Mr. Robert Louis Shull, age 98, of Salem, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Dorset Place Assisted Living, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Robert was born on November 1, 1922, in Salem, Indiana to James Dawson and Jossie Baker Shull.

Robert L. Shull was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army for three years from 1943-1946 as a Staff Sergeant in the United States and Greenland.  As a young man wandering the fields and knobs surrounding Salem, Robert developed a love for hunting.  Besides being an avid hunter, over time his steady eye and hand lending to his love of the game.

Although Robert loved playing golf, he loved playing basketball even more.  He was a key player on the Salem High School basketball team and continued to play the game whilst serving in the Army.

Robert had a soft spot for animals, particularly dogs.  Despite owning many dogs throughout his lifetime, he talked most fondly about his bull terrier, “Patton”, and his little lady dachshund, “Zsa-Zsa”.
