Mr. Roger D. Sweeney, age 77, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, April 17 at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Sweeney was born April 19, 1941 in Washington County the son of John and Edna Martin Sweeney.  He was a farmer, and was the 2011 Master Conservationist.  He was a Washington County Councilman for 28 years and a member and elder of Walnut Grove Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife:  Diane Brown Sweeney.  They were married August 29, 1964.  He is also survived by two sons:  Bobby Sweeney (Julie Rikerd) of Salem and R. Darin Sweeney (Velisha Davidson) of Campbellsburg, a daughter:  Karen Abbott (Kent) of Charlestown, two brothers:  Bill Sweeney of Liberty, Indiana and Loren Lee Sweeney of Corydon, three sisters:  Betty Gray of Seymour, Nancy Worley of Tyler, Texas and Rena Brown of Georgetown, a sister-in-law:  Jewel Sweeney of Salem, and three grandchildren:  Jake Sweeney, Karson and Kristen Abbott.

He was preceded in death by a brother:  David Sweeney and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-time of service.
