Ruth (Fite) Nickels

Mrs. Ruth Nickels, age 104, of Salem, passed away Friday, March 12 at Salem Crossing.

Mrs. Nickels was born March 2, 1917 in North Middletown, Kentucky the daughter of Arthur and Elsie Johnson Fite.  She was a retired employee of B.F. Goodrich and a member of West Side Baptist Church.

On October 11, 1940, Ruth married Elmer Nickels and he preceded her in death on December 3, 1995.  She was also preceded in death by one son:  Larry Nickels, three brothers, three sisters and her parents.

She is survived by two sons:  Frank Nickels of Gautier, Mississippi and Jerry Nickels of Sedona, Arizona, a daughter:  Ruth Ann Stites of Salem, two sisters:  Florine Butler of Lexington, Kentucky and Elsie Mae Walker of Cynthiana, Kentucky, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home with Kevin Carty officiating.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11AM-time of service.
