Mrs. Verona Howard Chastain-Kight, age 92, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, July 19 at her home.
Mrs. Kight was born September 26, 1930, in Vallonia, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur Lee and Rowena Truelove Howard. She was a former employee of the Washington County Clerk’s Office. She was a member of Smedley Church of Christ, the Red Hat Society, and the BPW.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Robert A. Chastain in 1984, and Orville Wayne Kight in 2010. She is also preceded in death by a son: Michael W. Chastain, brothers: Wilburn, Randall, and Lawrence Arthur Howard, and her parents.
She is survived by a daughter: Nancy Colglazier (David) of Salem, a brother: James Howard of Orleans, two sisters: Thelma Andrews of Clay City, IN, and Phyllis Rice of Alabama, five grandchildren: JR Chastain (Ellen) of Crestwood, KY, Jim Chastain (Adriana) of McClean, VA, Michelle Larrimore of Salem, Tracy Paxson (Jason) of Fort Wayne, and Dustin Colglazier (Amber) of Salem, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Smedley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-6PM and Monday from 9AM-until time of service.
