Weathers Funeral Home is proud to announce that we are now a certified provider of green burial services in Salem, Indiana. Our certification by the Green Burial Council marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to offering environmentally responsible and sustainable end-of-life options for the community.
Green burial is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional burial methods, focusing on minimizing environmental impact. As more families seek ways to honor their loved ones while also protecting the earth, green burial is becoming an increasingly popular choice.
What Is Green Burial?
Green burial involves interring the body in a way that allows it to decompose naturally and return to the earth. This process typically forgoes the use of embalming fluids, metal caskets, and concrete vaults, opting instead for biodegradable materials. It’s about letting nature take its course in the most gentle and respectful way possible. Learn more on our

Many choose green burial for its environmental benefits, but it also offers a return to simpler, more traditional practices. By avoiding chemicals and non-biodegradable materials, green burials reduce pollution and conserve natural resources, making it a fitting choice for those who want to leave a positive legacy.
